“When your feet are comfortable, so is your mind, body and soul.” —Donald Pliner
Donald Pliner founded his namesake brand nearly 30 years ago on the idea that if you feel fabulous, you look fabulous and the perfect shoe is just the ticket. There is power in a comfortable shoe. In the right pump or loafer, you have the confidence to close deals, walk down the aisle or simply spend the whole night dancing.
As we delve into Pride Month this June, may we all recognize the power within our “soles.” No matter who you love, where you were born or the color of your skin - love is love. This month we encourage you to stand tall in your Pliners and be proud of being you.
Here are a few ways to share the love and give back to the LGBTQ community.
WALK WITH PRIDE
March in one of the many Pride parades across the country. Parades take place throughout the year and some run for days at a time. Check the Gay Pride Calendar to see if one is coming to a city near you.
CELEBRATE THE HISTORY
Pride tradition dates to the late 1960s when the LGBTQ community began commemorating the Stonewall riots in New York City. These historic riots served as a catalyst for the gay community in the United States and across the globe. Take a stroll down Christopher Street and admire the National Historic Landmark where it all began.
GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
The most important way to commemorate the LGBTQ community is to get involved with an organization that advocates and provides a voice. The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national LGBTQ civil rights organization that represents a force of more than 3 million people. Shop the non-profit’s line of vibrant merchandise or donate toward equal rights for everyone.
Roll out the rainbow carpet, it’s time to celebrate, get involved and express yourself for Pride. In our shoes, we hope you take time to honor your inner “sole” this month.
